At Pioneer Communications, our mission is to make your life easier – simple as that. One of the most frustratingly difficult things to do in life is to move. There’s so much that needs to be organized, taken care of, and done before you move, so for this blog, we’ll give you 5 essential points to check off that’ll help you prepare for an upcoming move.
1. Put It All in a Notebook
One of the greatest skills you can have during a move is organization, and this simple trick can really bolster that. Instead of trying to keep track of all the things you need to take care of in the notes app on your smartphone, transfer it all to pen and paper – get a small notebook that’s purely dedicated to the moving process.
2. Plan Before You Pack
If you’ve had a chance to look around and inspect your new home, try to plan out where you’ll put your furniture and belongings before you pack them up. Not only will this give you more direction in unpacking, but it’ll also help guide how you pack away your things.
3. Change Your Address
This is oft forgot, but oh so important! Sit down and make a list of all the people and companies you’ll need to correspond with, then make sure you tell them all that you’re changing addresses – this includes the US Post Office, your electric company, water, gas, etc.
4. Take Care of Your Communications
Nothing is worse than moving into a new house that doesn’t have internet or cable, so it’s a good idea to get your internet, cable, and phone all set up before you move in. We can help with this one – at Pioneer Communications, we’ve been helping families stay connected for years!
5. Give Yourself a Break
Moving is hard, and it’s important to give cut yourself some slack during the process. Don’t beat yourself up if it takes longer to unpack than you expected, don’t be afraid to go out for pizza if you’re too tired to cook at the end of a long day of packing, and remember that there’s nothing wrong with a 20 minute snooze to re-energize you for a long day of moving!
